Jessica Sheffield Zamora is a Costa Rican Fulbright Scholar with a Master's Degree in Environmental Resource Management and a BS in Marine Biology. She is the co-founder and Sustainability Director of Del Mar Academy, a 5 Star Ecological Blue Flag International School located in Nosara, Costa Rica. In 2012, through an entrepreneurial competition, her Sustainable Homes idea was adopted and implemented nationwide. She currently writes op-ed articles for the newspaper La Nación, has a blog in The Voice of Guanacaste, is an active member of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and serves as the vice president of the Nosara Recycling Association. Jessica lives in Guanacaste with her husband, Bram and her children, Kai and Lucia.
Shannon McWhirter is a passionate artist who loves the beauty of nature and cares deeply about environmental and social issues. She currently works as a volunteer teaching children to read, empowering them to believe in themselves and their individual abilities. Shannon lives near the picturesque Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina with her husband, Jack and loves spending time with her 4 children, 3 stepchildren, and 3 precious grandchildren. Her magical illustrations were done in watercolor and were inspired by the beauty of the Costa Rican countryside.
Lucía is a young girl who takes us through a journey where faith is lost, hope is restored, and a dream is realized. She awakens us to the gift of life's endless renewal.
